Moreover, Dr. Schere is a prolific writer, having published in the fields of education, special needs children, parenting, consulting, assessment, treatment, supervision, and mentoring, in addition to his longstanding contribution to the arts: with several novels, poetry (many of which have been published in The San Diego Psychologist, along with a steady stream of thought-provoking articles. Dr. Schere is always willing to contribute both his time and creativity. Dr. Schere has produced several CD’s of his original music. Some of his songs have been commemorated in the Smithsonian Museum, alongside of his cohorts from Greenwich Village, Alan Ginsburg and Bob Dylan.

But Dr. Schere’s great loves, (besides his wife, Adrienne, his children [both of whom are psychologists] are his grandchildren) – his other loves include: teaching, treating and mentoring children and teenagers. There’s a special sparkle in his eyes when he speaks of working with them!

Dr. Richard Schere is one of SDPA’s lesser known treasures, since he keeps a “low profile” and “doesn’t toot his own horn”!
